    Question Heating the car

Is it necessary to heat up the engine of the car before using it? How long do you need to have the engine running for it to be properly heated up. What would happen if you do not heat it up and just start it and go?

    Default heating up the engine

I was told that with newer cars that it not needed anymore. Due to fuel injection or something like that. Sounded kind of odd to me. Is that true?

My impression is that a lot of people spend more time than necessary warming up their engines.

I'd be curious to hear what a mechanic would have to say, but I'm also aware of a no-idling bylaw in the city where I live. I think you're not supposed to let a vehicle idle for more than three minutes, if I remember correctly.

I used to heat my car's engine for a minuet before using it. Are you doing this too? Well, I think this is important because like a motorcycle you have to switch on its engine for a minuet.
