bizzare symptoms
Hi everyone I am new to this forum but have browsed through alot before and now since I myself am having some issues figured I'd give it a shot. I have a 2007 Corolla S 1.8l manual tran, with 99,250 miles.
Main problem: won't start. Lesser problem:very low idle near 4-600 rpm...norm is about 1000 at idle for me.
Symptoms are strange...Battery is fine at 12.8v. Alternator is fine as with AC, radio and brights on the charge is 14.2v. So I think to myslef if I have an ok battery and alternator I will use my selnoid jump kit. This does not work, the car does not even attempt to turn over. So my first thought would be well its the starter...but usually the radio or headlights will atleast come on. When i closed the circuit on the selnoid jumper cables the selnoid did click. Here is where it gets strange...In what appears to maybe be a bad starter I have a very low idle of about 4-600 rpm that is nearly stalling at times...and my power locks do not work when the car is turned off...normally even when the car is completely off the power locks still work...it takes a very small current from the battery i know to operate the power windows. This is all very odd to me as the low idle...lack of power windows and power locks and inability to start seem very non-related. I would think vaccum leak for the idle problem typically but that shouldn't affect my power locks which require like .25 amp draw to work. I would really appreciate any help i really do not know how any of this could be related.
