air impact wrench recommendations
Hello everyone,
I recently bought this Hitachi wrench :
HITACHI Power Tools: Products > Cordless > 14.4-Volt > WR14DL 14.4V Lithium Ion Impact Wrench (3.0Ah)
I thought I could open lug nuts on my car but come to realize it's very weak. Specs say 1,780 in/lbs max torque so I figure even if it had half I though I'd be enough. Nope..rattle rattle rattle, nothing.
It couldn't open variator bolts on my Suzuki Burgman 400 scooter. What a piece of junk.
So I was looking at some listing on ebay and see this huge amount of wrenches available.
So my questions are:
1-The largest bolt I would have to remove ever would be my car lug nuts and scooter variator bolts. How much in/lbs or torque do I need? What's the difference between the in/lbs and torque anyway?
2-I'm not looking to spend more than $170 for one because I don't need to constantly use it. Just some diy jobs and basically maintenance. I don't want Chinese made wrenches like Neiko or aircat. Something I won't have issues with. I can't afford mac or snapon wrenches.
3-I was looking at Ingersoll-Rand wrenches but don't know what to look for.
4-I read you should add a few drops of oil into the air hose each time before you connect it to the wrench for lubrication. How true is this?
5-I have a 2HP 6 gallon compressor. Is this enough for random jobs I need to do? for instance take a rim of the car, or work on my scooter? I was also planning to repaint my scooter. I would paint a part or 2 a day. How would this work out?
Any help appreciated.

I dont know the model number off hand, somewhere lost in garage, but i got an ingersol rand 1/2" impact off ebay for like $30. worked great for 2 years i worked at toyota, im sure it would still work well today with a little oil...
pretty sturdy for cheap, and whenever it does die on me, rebuild kits are like $25 to replace most the internals that could wear out...
find one that works, or you can get money back if it doesnt, oil it before each use, and they last a long time...

I don't know about scooter but commom car lugs are 17 19 21 they are torqued at 80 ft/lbs
Adding a couple drops of oil every once in a while is a good idea to keep everything lubed.
Maybe instead of getting an impact a trusty breaker bar and 1/2in drive torque wrench would be better.
