    Default car shakes and stopped

A week ago, when my friend and I, drove down the freeway and her car starts to shake, a few miles later the car stopped. So we pull over to the side and under the hood is steaming. We was able to put some gas in it and it limped home and died as soon as it was parked. What do you think is the problem of her car?

It steamed? Did you mean to say you pushed the car all the way to your home? Geez. Anyways, was there any strange sound you heard when the car was steaming? Because situations like that means your engine' not doing good. Or perhaps the timing belt too.

    Default car shakes and stopped

My shaking seemed to be mostly caused by bad ignition coils and ignition wires. Cause the Mass air flow sensor got fixed and there was still shakes but once the new ignition coils were added and ignition wire was changed that seemed to stop the shaking. However, my car seems to go sideways or shake when I got past 70mph on the fwy or when I turn on the air conditioner. I still have no idea what's causing this. The mechanic said its because the car needed new engine mounts. I don't understand how a car that's barely 7 yrs old could need new ignition mounts so fast.

If this is a Ford Escort (aka Tracer) get the powertrain mounts neutralized, and if that doesn't work, just remember that Escorts are like that.

If not an Escort, suspect low idle speed, misfire at idle typical of poor fuel control, or damaged or soft powertrain mount.

    or
low idle tune up out of balance engine bad tranny mount bad engine mount price varies by car and problem

sound like the shaking was a miss fire do to a head gasket problem, amazing you made it home . when engine compression or exhaust gases inter the cooling system this will cause miss firing over heating and ultimately kill the motor. i suggest looking at the engine oil if it looks like chocolate milk don't bother with a repair , replace the motor. putting gas in it didnt get you home allowing the motor to cool did
