    Default CEL flashing, Vehicle Shakes

I have a 2006 Isuzu Ascender. About 3 months ago, CEL flashed then stayed on & I had it read-cylinder 5 misfire. I have replaced the battery, gotten new plugs put on, & replaced the coil in cylinder 5. Now the light flashes, but doesn't stay on and I feel it slightly shaking when slowing down. No other symptoms but I can't figure out what's wrong. Mechanic cant read the CEL b/c it wont stay on, only flashes. 72,000miles

Got the flashing light, then light stayed on
    Had it read-cylinder 5 misfire
Replaced ignition coil 5 first-now flashing light only
Took it to dealership mechanic-he said there were no codes in it to read-So he replaced the plugs. Still flashing light 40miles down the road later..

Hello Lucas79, Sorry to hear that INCOMPETENT mechanics (technicians) are causing you trouble. The flashing MIL (CEL or check engine light) is to warn you that something is terribly wrong, and your cat ( catalytic converter) is suffering a catastrophic failure. Where are you located? My suggestion would be limit the cat usage. If possible don't use it until you fix the problem. I'm willing to help you but I'm limited over the computer. The MIL (CEL) will turn on after the car on board computer has detected 1.5 times over the federal emissions limit. Meaning that a MIL (CEL) will only turn on if the car detects emissions levels are over.

I would check Fuel systems. stuck open injectors, 02 sensors ect.

    Where do you live?
And how does the car drive at this point?

And Please don't drive it!! A cat is like 1000.00 and up for OEM...

my Qualifications: 2009 update (BAR) , Clean air basic (BAR), Advance Clean air (BAR)

    (BAR) Bureau of Automotive Repair

and HINT* its technical name is MIL not CEL ...lol

    MIL (malfunction light indicator)

    Good luck!
