Default 90' Bonneville 3.8L V6; sluggish lunges, popping in engine

Now, one thing to note... is if I have the car in park, and just push on the throttle, the engine revs smooth with no problem. It also idles fine. It's only when I actually am driving the vehicle that it does this. And, the pop is definitely coming from the engine compartment. I checked, and the oil is clean, no contaminates. No check engine lights. I changed the fuel filter less than 5,000 miles ago.

    This car is fuel injected.

When I am accelerating, I'll get a *pop* coming from the engine compartment. I checked, and there was a vacuum hose going to my Canister Purge Solenoid that was not connected (male to female). I have no idea how long it was like that. I plugged it back in pretty simply, but doing so made no improvement to my issue. Could this hose going to this being unplugged for so long have caused something to get clogged? I drove the car around... put it on the interstate... no improvement... and when I checked, the hose was still hooked up, so I have no idea how it ever got off there. Never heard of this thing, but I read up on on it a bit and it seems this wouldn't have much to do with it... as it just takes vapors and burns them up instead of sending them directly into the atmosphere. I'm guessing I probably bumped it off when I changed the radiator a year and a half ago and never noticed. Below is a link to some good pictures of it on autozone.

Anyways, the gas tank was just under half, so I filled it up and drove it around... still doing it. I've lost a lot of power, it seems to really be hesitating, kind of surging at times... and I get a pop when accelerating sometimes.

    What do you think?

    Thanks!
