My 2003 Saturn Ion 3 Has An Intermittent Start Problem
OK, I know the first thing you will say is it is the Ignition Security switch. I replaced that 2 years ago when I moved from Florida with one from the Saturn Dealer. This is acting completely different.
Sometimes (6 times since Oct) When I try to start my car it will start to crank then stop. If I turn the key again it will not do anything. If I wait about 30 seconds it will do the short crank and stop. If I wait about 2 minutes it will crank fine, run about 3 seconds then die (service light comes on). If I wait another 2 minutes it will crank fine and either start and die or start and run fine. The first time it did this I had driven about 4 miles, stopped for 5 minutes, then it wouldn't restart. Once it did restart I drove to the parts store and had the battery tested...it was fully charged and had over 600CC Amps. The next time it wouldn't start after sitting over night., Next time was driven about 7 miles and then sat for about 15 minutes, then wouldn't start. I put my code scanner on it and 0 codes. That was after I got it started. Next time I put the scanner on while it wouldn't start and again 0 codes. It runs fine when it does run and my gas mileage is still averaging 33mpg. I replaced the plugs at 104k (2K ago). The wear on the old plugs was 1=0.01" 2= 0.015" 3= 0.07" and 4= 0.01". Has anyone had this problem or know what it might be?
