89 s-10 blazer major issues
89 S-10 Blazer, 4.3v6, auto. 142,xxx miles
Last tuesday this vehicle started dying whenever you would stop for a red light or stop sign. I looked for vacuum leaks but could not find anything other than a few crakced hoses I replaced.
On wednesday it died and would not restart. Wednesday evening it would start, run very rough and die. When you tried to give it gas it would bog down and backfire thru the TBI.
One friend looked at it and he thought it had jumped time. A couple other guys thought it sounded like a fuel pressure issue. I do not have a pressure gauge but I unhooked both of the fuel lines going to the TBI one at a time and turned the key on. The one on the drivers side of the vehicle spit out a small amount of fuel and the passengers side did nothing.
I replaced the fuel filter but still had the same results. Today I put a fuel pump in it and still nothing. I have also replaced the dist cao and rotor.
When you are cranking the engine over, there is fuel that DRIPS from the injectors in the TBI but that is it. I have tried to pour a small amount of gas in the TBI but it still will not start that way. I have checked to see if I am getting fire at the #1 plug and it is firing so I am assuming the rest are.
This afternoon I attempted to check the TPS and could not get any voltage out of it. Would that prevent it from starting?
Thanks,
Tim Johnson
