    Default mitsubishi -

I removed the sump pan so as to replace the leaking gasket on my Dodge Stratus mitsubishi engine. In the pan I found what looked like a bicycle chain. The dealer says it belongs to the "stabilizer bar" and is not something to worry about and can be discarded without replacement.
Is this information correct? What is the function of this bar? Is it necessary for the life of the engine and its function?

    Thanx, Ian Ward-Cox

    Default Timing Chain

i believe your mechanic refers to the timing chain. I would certainly not discard this item. I actually had mine replace a couple of months ago.
