have a 2000 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4L Triton V8. I bought it not running from someone who had taken the passenger (R) cylinder head off for repair. While the head was off, and the (L) head is still connected to the crankshaft by means of the other timing chain, he told me that it's possible that his son had turned the crankshaft a couple of times, so he can't be sure whether piston #1 is at TDC of its compression stroke or its exhaust stroke. Is there a way to tell by looking at the position of the valves on the (L) cylinder head which is still attached, which stroke piston #1 is on? If not, is there a diagram or a method of aligning the camshafts so that the process can start from TDC of compression? Any information would really help. Thankss in advance.
