I recently bought a Saab 93, 74000miles, 2001, which had recently been fully serviced.
On day 3 having done less than 150miles the oil light came on and warning lights, and banging from tappits. I had the car towed back to the dealer. I asked for a refund and he said he was going to repair unless his mechanic advised a new engine.

Over the forthcoming weeks I was told a lot of tosh. It seems a sump oil filter had been missed at service and oil could not circulate properly. I was lead to believe that all 4 pistons were being replaced and all rebored. When I picked up car I asked to see 4 pistons and invoices of new. I was then told only one replaced, no reboring just deglaze. The mechanics invoice to the car trader states 'engine not guaranteed due to damaged bore'.

I have now had the car back in my posession for 4 days, it is chucking out lots of smoke which appears to be getting worse. It has stalled a number of times whilst I have had the clutch pressed down. I have had to put 2 litres of oil in over the weekend (can't believe the price of that stuff!!) and it seems to be guzzling petrol.

Are these symptoms likely to be due to the damaged engine? Was a 'reasonable' repair carried out (even though I was misled that repairs would be more extensive)?
