My nephew own a BMW m3 and the freon leaked out (leaky old compressor seal). The display says the "compressor is off" and the unit didn't charge. Is there a reset switch or something that needs to be reset to allow the system to take a charge?![]()

If this noise is apparent when the A/C compressor is OFF it is most likely the COMPRESSOR CLUTCH BEARING that is going bad. If the noise is ONLY apparent when the A/C compressor is ON, This would most likely be an internal compressor fault.
HOWEVER, A belt can make strange noises. Spray the belt with some BELT DRESSING available from any auto parts store and see if the noise is gone.
