Default slow crank, no jumpstart, battery has charge

    hi

My car's battery is not old but i had to recharge it twice for different reasons.
After recharging the car worked well for a couple of weeks and then suddenly one day after driving around for a while i stopped and it just wouldn't start again.

I get a slow crank and lights dim while turning the key to start, but i tested the battery and it has charge, about 12, but jumpstarting with another car didn't work.
Can the battery still be the problem even if it has charge, as it won't jumpstart? or what else could be the problem?

    thanks

    Cool slow crank

Bad starter bearings will cause this problem. It's really noticeable when the engine is hot and has been turned off for only a short time.

I just recently had a very similar problem. My truck seemed to get a weaker and weaker crank as the weeks went by, until I had to start to get jumped. Every time it actually turned over though, I was told i had a full charge. It was a dead cell in the battery. The dead cell is the weak link, but because the rest are good, the battery can still hold its charge(once its going). But because one is dead, it can not have the initial charge that is needed to crank the engine over. Although, my battery was five years old, I have been told it can happen to new ones as well. Hope this helps.
