    Default Air condition

I was driving my father's car this afternoon and I turned the air condition on. At first, it was running fine but later on it blew warm. What bothers me as well was the grinding sound under the hood. What do you think is the problem?

Have you checked the compressor? It seems that your compressor must have a problem. Try to check it and if it failed, I think you should replaced it together with the orifice tube and the accumulator.

You may want to also check the level of the coolant (freon) in the air conditioner. It may be too low and the airconditioner is running without coolant. That would damage the compressor.

I'll inspect the car's compressor if it has a problem. How about the grinding sound under the hood? What do you think I should do? Do you think it would still be fine to use/drive the car?

I think there's a problem with your compressor. Everytime we have a problem like that we just checked the compressor.

Well, maybe it could still be fine to use that car. The only problem is on its air condition, right? I think, this is not a big problem, just try to visit an expert mechanic to fix it. What do you think?

Its probably just the compressor. Its what responsible in it. You might also want to try mamabear's suggetion to check the freon of your car.

    Cool

If the freon is too low the compressor will either cycle on and off continuously or or not cycle on at all. If his is the case you need freon, otherwise have the compressor checked.

Correct. That's the way it works with air condition.

I tried to check the freon. Well, I'm not really sure if the problem is their. Do you think it needs to change a new one? Would it be much expensive than having a repair?
