Default How do we check the timing belt?

Going to a mechanic just to repair broken timing belt is costly. Is it possible to repair your own timing belt? What can I do to see if it needs to be replaced? How often do I have to check on my timing belt?

First, you're gonna notice when to replace it easily since it always makes a bad sound in the engine when they're need to be changed. Is your belt having bad sounds lately?

It sounds bad the last time I used it. I tried to drive it this morning and I heard the sounds again. I was thinking of going to a mechanic but it might cost me much just to check it. If possible, I wanted to repair or even check on my own timing belt if it needs to be replaced. Where do you think I should start?
