    Default Engine light.

    Hi,

I think you also know that when our car is indicating any kind of problem so clearly that problem should be removed. You should give your car its required tests.

    Cool

i have read most of these posts and had to stop . here's a good reality check for the general public. been in the auto industry 35 + years.don't be mad over the cost of true diagnoses of automotive problems . as repair facilities did not engineer these cars or cause systems to fail . it is reasonable for a shop to charge for the time it takes to locate the cause of your failure. most real repair facilities START testing at 100 + dollars and will call customer with update when an hour to 1.5 hours have elapsed. as far as do you have tests don't YES if you wont your car repaired correctly, and for the cheapest possible cost. TELL THE SHOP YOU WONT TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THEY TESTED AND IT WRITEN ON YOUR INVOICE

Hi tina- call your local parts house, such as advance auto or auto zone. Some do offer a free computer check. It wont hurt to get a starting point. One very serious reason for your light could be nothing more than a loose gas cap at one time? Or a cracked vac. Hose. Never the less, i dont know any info on your vehical, and the free diagnosis dont always give you enough info. You may very well still need a mechanic, yet you will feel better with a starting point.

One of the reason could be a short circuit in the main electrical board for the light indicator in the dash board.

It right!t if you are not comfortable with the mechanic there is no harm asking for a second opinion to another mechanic.
